Secondary Specialized Programs
Meeting the Learning Needs of All of our Students

The Limestone District School Board offers a wide variety of specialized programs which complement Ontario Ministry of Education Curriculum, and are designed to meet the learning needs of all of our students. These programs allow for participation of elementary and secondary students at a variety of grade levels and are hosted at a multiple sites within the district. Please explore the links along the left side of this page to learn more about the individual programs that are available.


Program
An enrichment program open to all students who wish to stretch themselves beyond the Ontario academic curriculum in their chosen subject fields.
Academic and workforce training that meets the needs of diversified client groups, and programs designed to re-engage students who have difficulty succeeding in traditional classrooms.
A School-to-College-to-Work Initiative project that supports high school students in attending a college course while still in the process of completing their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
A variety of e-Learning courses are available throughout the regular school year as well as during the summer session.
Programs for students learning English as a Second Language (ESL) across the district. Parents should contact their school prinicipal for details.
Courses that concentrate on a particular field of interest or training to provide students with both academic and work experience that will give them a foundation in a career or area of study.
An environmental education programs for elementary and secondary students.
An academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students aged 16 to 19 for success at university and life beyond.
Program gives students from outside Canada the opportunity to study at a local elementary or secondary school in the Board’s jurisdiction.
Hands-on training program for students who want to work in a skilled trade and enjoy learning by doing.
Designed to encourage students to return to the education system if they have left secondary school without earning an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
An annual event that provides an opportunity for Grades 5-12 students in the region to showcase their knowledge, talents and ingenuity in science, engineering and technology.
Specialized, career-focused programs that allow students to acquire technical knowledge and skills in specific economic sectors while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
First of many annual Skills events where students can demonstrate their talent and creativity in a test against peers and sector related judging criteria.  
Includes reading for Kindergarten to Grade 6, literacy for Grades 7-10 and a summer session (summer school) for secondary students.
An evening correspondence program for students age 18 and over who wish to either upgrade their skills or complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma requirements.  
Various programs to address needs of students facing more challenges than others as they learn to read, write and do mathematics.
