Personal Support Worker: Career for Life..Become provincially accredited PSW in just 8 months
The Personal Support Worker Certificate offered by Limestone District School Board, through the Limestone Community Education Centre is a full-time, 8 month program that runs from September to April.
Interested participants must attend an information session to be eligible for the program and to receive an interview appointment. To reserve your place at one of the following information sessions, please call 613-542-7369 ext. 283.


Secondary Summer Session: Summer Session 2013 will be offered by the Limestone District School Board at Frontenac Secondary School from Tuesday July 2 - Friday July 26, 2013.  Classes will run daily from 8:20 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  On-site courses will be available for students who wish to upgrade their marks, or for students who wish to “reach ahead” to earn credits for courses they have not previously taken.  In addition, co-operative education opportunities and e-Learning courses will also be available to students.  

Registration materials, including information about course offerings, are now available in the Student Services Departments at all secondary schools and available on this website. Students can register for Summer Session until Wednesday, June 26 at any Limestone District School Board secondary school.  

For students not currently attending an LDSB school, Summer Session materials can be obtained at Limestone Education Centre (LEC), 164 Van Order Drive (Second Floor), in Kingston until June 26.

Students can also register at Frontenac Secondary School on Saturday, June 29 (8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), Sunday, June 30 (10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.) and Monday, July 1 (10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.).            

Please note that all Summer Session programs will only run if there is sufficient enrolment.

Graduation Requirements: To earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), students must complete a number of steps. The most important step is the completion of courses from the Ontario Curriculum.

Focus Programs: are packages of courses offered at Secondary Schools that concentrate on a particular field of interest or training to provide students with both academic and work experience that will give them a foundation in a career or area of study.

Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP): The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) opens the door to apprenticeship in a wide range of exciting careers. If you are entering Grade 11 (have 16 credits) and are at least 16 years old and are a full time student, you can work towards a career in a skilled trade as a registered apprentice, and eventually a certified skilled worker or journey person, while you complete your Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Special High Skill Major (SHSM): enables students to customize their high school experience to suit their interests and talents while preparing them for a successful post secondary transition into apprenticeship training, college, university, or direct entry into employment.

International Baccalaureate: (IB) programme is a unique educational experience with dual intent: to prepare students for an internationally-recognized university entrance examination; to provide a learning curriculum that will challenge the student beyond the traditional realm of high school learning.

English As A Second Language: A full-time, full year English As A Second Language program for students who need to finish their high school diploma.

Limestone Skills Competition: The Limestone Skills competition is an opportunity for students to challenge their skills and understanding in a specific subject area related to their interest and pathway destination of their choosing. The competition is held each April at St. Lawrence college, with over 32 secondary challenges and 3 elementary events.

The Advanced Placement Program: has provided motivated high school students with the opportunity to take post secondary-level courses in a high school setting.

Exchange Programs: Students wishing to experience another culture or community can study from one semester to a full year in another setting.

Athletics: KASSAA belongs to the Eastern Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association and the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations . There are 14 secondary schools that belong to our association.

Grade 10 Community Physical Activity Pass: The Grade 10 Community Pass initiative is being spearheaded by Kingston Gets Active and  provides all grade 10 students with free access to all recreation facilities (i.e., pools, arenas, YMCA) in the city and local townships for the entire school year.

Dual Credits: There are a number of dual credit opportunities available to students in the Limestone District School Board. In this program, students earn both high school credits and college credits at the same time.
