The Limestone District School Board is committed to reducing our ecological footprint in a fiscally and socially responsible manner through various initiatives highlighted in our Strategic Plan. Our 10 "Sustainability Priority Areas" guide us in fostering
environmental education and sustainable school communities.
The 10 Sustainability Priority Areas are:
Climate Change and Energy
Student and Community Engagement
Teaching and Learning
The priority areas and associated critera (see report at right) help provide guidance and a common direction and language for the Board in regard to sustainability, and in turn help contribute to and encourage the many sustainable activities already happening within the communities to which we belong. In our work toward fostering understanding of environmental education and a sustainable school system, we strive to provide leadership to our broader community and to seek leadership within the same.
The Sustainable Living Project (click on the icon below) documents the successes and actions of the Limestone District School Board to realize future system changes and plan for environmental sustainability. The project highlights what Limestone students, teachers and staff are doing to help progress environmental education and action in the Board. The project will show both what curriculum and facilities are doing toward improving the efficiency of our systems.
