Message from the Director

Krishna Burra - Director of Education

Having attended schools in one of Limestone’s predecessor boards and serving as an educator for the entirety of my career in Limestone, I am very proud to serve as Director of Education with the Limestone District School Board – the region’s only fully-inclusive public school board.

In Canada, we are fortunate to have strong support for a universally accessible, publicly funded education system that is among the best in the world. Public education is highly valued for its key role in providing opportunities that foster hope, creativity, innovation, teamwork, and personal leadership regardless of who you are or where you came from.

In Limestone, we are proud to work in collaboration with trustees, community partners, and families to embrace and foster engaging and innovative learning where everyone achieves success and well-being. We are committed to the success of every student as outlined in our five-year strategic plan – focused on Wellness, Innovation and Collaboration. By putting Wellness first; by turning Innovation into action; and by being committed to Collaboration, we will support, nurture and enhance student achievement, and student and staff well-being.

In these extraordinary times, we know firsthand the importance of ongoing collaboration and innovative approaches to support effective teaching and learning. Despite the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has presented, we continue to help students discover and grow. I continue to be impressed by the resiliency and ingenuity of our school communities to support students whether it is in-person, or virtually.

From the basics of literacy and numeracy, to problem solving and critical thinking, we help students develop the skills they will need to reach their full potential in our ever-changing world. We promote respect and responsibility in a culture of care; providing compassion, inclusion, and dedicated effort to support the unique needs, strengths, and challenges of every student. We truly want everyone who learns, works, or volunteers with us to see themselves in Limestone.
