FAQ   re. the new basketball proposal

  1. If we decide to play competitive this year, can we change to recreational next year?
bulletYes, decisions will be made each year based on the needs of the team.
  2.  Our girls want to play competitive, our boys recreational? Can we do both?
bulletYes, each team decides whether they prefer competitive or recreational.
  3. What if only a few teams want to play recreational in the whole district?
bulletDepending on numbers, we may need to revert to the same system as in previous years.
  4.  We have a highly competitive team in Division 5, but we know we're not as strong as the teams in Division 1. Should we go competitive or recreational?
bulletYou should go competitive. Hopefully, the numbers will allow you to play schools in your general size bracket.
  5.  We are a competitive team that has always been in division 2 and we are now in with the  division 1 schools. Can we go down to a smaller division?
bulletNo, teams cannot lobby to be placed in a smaller division.
  6. I've never coached before... what do I do?
bullet Let John Hall or Steven Down know and we'll see how we can help. A coaches clinic could possibly be arranged. Depending on your players' skill level, it might be a good idea to play recreational this year to get a feel for the game. Recreational rules are equal play time and no championships, so it is a bit more of a relaxed atmosphere.
