OSSTF to hold one-day strike Dec. 4
Posted on 11/28/2019

Teachers and education professionals represented by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) will hold a one-day, province-wide strike (full withdrawal of services) Wednesday, December 4, if a new agreement is not reached before then.

In Limestone, OSSTF represents secondary school teachers, occasional teachers, professional student services personnel, and community education instructors.

This means there will be no classes or extracurricular activities for secondary students on Wednesday, December 4, and secondary schools are closed to students.  Also English-as-a-Second Language and Literacy and Basic Skills programs will not be available as our continuing education instructors are members of OSSTF.

The one-day strike follows six days of information pickets and a limited withdrawal of administrative duties that began November 26.

This job action does not affect community-use-of-schools in LDSB secondary schools or day care centres.

Elementary and intermediate schools are not affected by this announcement. All LDSB elementary and intermediate schools remain open, and classes for all elementary students continue as scheduled. This also includes elementary programs located in secondary schools.

We are hopeful that the parties at the central table are able to reach an agreement before next Wednesday, however in the meantime we will continue to provide further updates as more information becomes available.
