LDSB not affected by Dec. 11 one-day strike
Posted on 12/09/2019

The Ontario Secondary Schools Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) announced last week that it will continue with rotating one-day strikes at selected school boards across the province on Dec. 11, 2019 unless a central agreement can be reached.

The Limestone District School Board is NOT one of the targeted school boards.

All Limestone schools will be open on Dec. 11 and all classes and activities will operate as scheduled.

In Limestone, OSSTF represents secondary school teachers, occasional teachers, professional student services personnel, and community education instructors. We are hopeful that the parties at the central table are able to reach an agreement soon.

Elementary teachers in Ontario, including here in Limestone, will be starting phase two of their work-to rule-campaign Tuesday, December 10. This means that in addition to withdrawing various administrative duties educators will not plan any new field trips, distribute letters or memos from schools and/or the Board, among other work-to-rule strike protocol. Any field trips already planned and organized will go ahead.

It is important for families to know that there will be no impact on student learning and the delivery of the curriculum at this time.

The Board will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
