Napanee District Secondary School (NDSS) celebrated the revitalization of its tennis facilities supported by Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities (Jumpstart) October 28, 2022.

Jumpstart awarded NDSS a $260,000 grant to update its existing tennis facilities, inclusive of acrylic surfacing, new fencing, and the addition of pickleball lines. The project was made possible thanks to the contributions of local Canadian Tire Dealer Kevin Thiessen and his wife Rachel, as well as a generous donation from the Estate of Roland Paul Van Hooser

NDSS is very appreciative of the grant to build the fully accessible tennis and pickleball facility that will provide many benefits to the students at the school, as well as the greater Napanee community.

“Napanee District Secondary School is grateful for the support of Jumpstart and the Thiessen family. It is a priority at NDSS to provide our students with diverse and accessible options to keep healthy and active, and this grant allowed us to build new courts that will serve our students and our community for many years to come,” said Erin Pincivero, Principal, Napanee District Secondary School.

Featuring four inclusive courts and spanning over 22,500 square feet, the Jumpstart Tennis Court at NDSS provides opportunities for students and families of all abilities to play alongside each other.

Jumpstart is proud to create spaces that encourage kids of all abilities to get active and reap the many benefits of sport and play,” said Marco Di Buono, President of Jumpstart. With the great rise of popularity of tennis and pickleball in Canada, the Jumpstart Tennis Court is sure to be a welcome addition to the Napanee community.”
