The recent announcement by the Government of Ontario around the use of cell phones does not change to the day-to-day practices in the Limestone District School Board.

The Board provides students with access to technology to support teaching and learning, and permits the use of cell phones and other personal devices in the classroom as directed by the teacher. Devices may also be used when a student requires a mobile device for health and medical reasons, or to support special education needs.

The use of mobile devices is covered by Board procedures which have been in place for several years. These procedures cover the use of personal devices in the classroom as well as appropriate use of technology during the school day in schools’ codes of conduct and digital citizenship.
