Schools in the Limestone District School Board reopen for in-person learning Monday, January 25, 2021. Here are some important reminders for students and families as we reacquaint ourselves with COVID-19 protocols and daily routines.

It is important to note that the following health measures and protocols have been set by the Ministry of Education and provincial and local public health authorities for all schools in Ontario.

  • If students experience any COVID-19 signs or symptoms this week/weekend, they should be tested at an assessment centre before Sunday, January 24, 2021.
  • If students and families travelled outside the KFL&A region during the remote learning period, you must monitor closely for symptoms and immediately get tested if symptoms develop and remain at home. While students cannot be excluded from school if they travelled outside the region and do not have symptoms, the provincial emergency order and local public health authorities recommends only essential travel and staying within the KFL&A region.
  • Families must screen students daily for COVID-19 symptoms using the approved Ministry of Education School and Child Care Screening Tool. Do not send students to school if they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or if they are sick.
  • Students will be required to adhere to all existing COVID-19 safety protocols at school including proper hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, physical distancing (where possible) and the use of face coverings (masks).
  • Students in Grades 1 to 12 are required to wear a face covering while attending school, while travelling on school buses, and while outside if unable to maintain physical distancing (neck warmers and scarves are not a substitute for masks outdoors).
  • Masks are strongly encouraged for Kindergarten students.
  • Please send extra masks with your student in the event they become wet or soiled.
  • Families who attend school property/yards for pick up and drop off of students are asked to wear masks if they cannot maintain physical distancing of six feet.
  • Secondary students will be asked not to congregate in large groups outside during lunch and breaks. Secondary students will be required to be masked when outside (even in their cohort when not six feet apart) and students cannot assemble in groups larger than 5 people as per current public health directives.
  • Please return any borrowed electronic devices and charging cables/cords to your classroom teacher on Monday.
  • When not in school, please respect the provincial stay-at-home orders. Do not gather with anyone who is not part of your household. Do not travel outside of the KFL&A region unless for essential needs.

Thank you for your attention to these important measures to keep student and staff safe, and ensure schools can remain open.

Reminder that Friday, January 29 is a PA Day and there are no classes (in-person or virtual school) for students. PA Days are mandated by the Ministry of Education. Schools will use Friday to complete report cards.
