Image of Student Census 2020 logoIn the Limestone District School Board, we are committed to equity, inclusion and ensuring everyone feels a strong sense of belonging. Understanding student identity, lived experience, and ability continue to be important in our efforts to improve student achievement and well-being.

We want to learn more about our students – their backgrounds, experiences and needs so that we can identify where systemic barriers exist, and determine how to eliminate discriminatory biases in our classes and schools as outlined in the Ontario Education Equity Action Plan. To do this, we are asking Limestone students in Grades 4 to 12 to participate in our confidential student census in the spring of 2020.

The online census, which will be completed by students during supervised class time, will ask students a variety of questions around their identity and demographics. All information on individual students will remain confidential.

School boards across the province are asking students to complete a student census to identify and eliminate discrimination and bias from schools and classrooms.

To help prepare for the census, the Board held a series of information and sharing sessions with students, families and community partners. This work helped inform the questions that will be asked and how students and staff will be prepared to complete the survey.
