LDSB joins Working Group on Climate Action

What low-cost and immediate strategies would you implement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in the industrial, commercial and institutional sector (ICI)?

This is the specific question being tackled by the Working Group on Climate Action – and its members want to hear from you!  The Working Group’s mandate – to identify quick, low-cost GHG-reduction strategies in the ICI sector – is just one of a number of initiatives the City is taking to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change.

“There’s no one-step solution to address climate change. Reducing greenhouse gas emission requires multi-layered solutions almost everywhere you look.  That is why we are coming together to learn from each other, share ideas, and develop attainable and cost-effective solutions that can be implement immediately,” says councillor Bridget Doherty, who co-chairs the group. LDSB Sustainable Initiatives Coordinator Dan Hendry is the other co-chair.

Have an idea or strategy for low-cost and immediate ways the ICI sector can reduce their GHG emissions? Share it with the Working Group on Climate Action at GetInvolved.CityofKingston.ca or plan to attend the public consultation on Tuesday, August 27 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Ideas identified by the Working Group will be reported back to City Council on Oct. 15, during a regular council meeting.
