In the Limestone District School Board, we are committed to equity, inclusion and ensuring everyone feels a strong sense of belonging. Understanding student identity, lived experience, and ability continue to be important in our efforts to improve student achievement and well-being.

We want to learn more about students – their backgrounds, experiences and needs – so that we can identify potential barriers or gaps and determine how to eliminate discriminatory biases in our classes and schools as outlined in the Ontario Education Equity Action Plan. Our goal is to identify opportunities to help all students succeed.

To do this, we are asking Limestone students to participate in our confidential See Yourself in Limestone Student Census. The census originally planned for the spring of 2020 had to be postponed due to COVID-19 school closures. The board has rescheduled the census for the week of November 23, 2020.

The online census, which will be completed by students in Grades 4 to 12 during supervised class time and by families of Kindergarten to Grade 3 students at home, will ask students a variety of questions around their identity and demographics. All information on individual students will remain confidential.

To help prepare for the census, the Board held a series of information and sharing sessions with students, families and community partners. This work helped inform the questions that will be asked and how students and staff will be prepared to complete the survey.

The Limestone District School Board is situated on traditional territories of the Anishinaabe & Haudenosaunee.
