Limestone Learning Foundation

Students now ride Kingston Transit buses for free.All registered Limestone students are eligible to ride for free on Kingston Transit thanks to an expanded partnership with the City of Kingston. Grade 9 to 12 students enrolled in Limestone schools are eligible for a free Kingston Transit Pass to encourage them to ride the bus to access recreational programs, volunteer opportunities, jobs, or school programs through a partnership with the City of Kingston. The City recently extended its free transit pass program to include all children age 14 and under to ride for free.

Children age 14 and under (Kindergarten to Grade 8):

Children age 14 and under can travel with Kingston Transit free of charge. Children 14 and under do not require a bus pass, identification, or to travel with an adult. Children 14 and under are to advise the bus operator of their age prior to boarding.

Secondary Students (Grades 9-12):

The free Kingston Transit pass is available to Grade 9 to 12 students attending a high school in the city of Kingston. Eligible Limestone high schools include:

  • Bayridge Secondary School

  • Ernestown Secondary School

  • Frontenac Secondary School

  • Kingston Collegiate & Vocational Institute (KCVI)

  • LaSalle Secondary School

  • Loyalist Collegiate & Vocational Institute (LCVI)

Students may obtain their Kingston Transit photo ID bus pass at City Hall, 216 Ontario St., or the Guest Services Desk at the Cataraqui Centre, 945 Gardiners Rd.

Students will need:

  • A birth certificate and a valid Grade 9, 10, 11, or 12 student timetable, OR

  • A valid student photo ID card for the coming school year

Transit passes are valid from September 1 to August 31. There is a $3 fee for the initial Photo ID bus card (except new Grade 9 students) and a $3 fee for a replacement card applicable to all high school students.

Field Trip Transit Pass Program

The City of Kingston has expanded its partnership with the Board to include offering teachers free transit passes to accompany students on field trip using Kingston Transit.

The Limestone District School Board is situated on traditional territories of the Anishinaabe & Haudenosaunee.
